The Governing Body
The Government requires that each school have a management team, a Governing Body. This body is made up of the various stakeholders that the school serves: parents, the local authority, staff or local community and for church controlled schools, the Diocese. This helps ensure the governing body has sufficient diversity of views and experience.
The Governing Body meets as a full group three times a year. There are two committees: Resources (the school budget, all issues relating to staff, buildings, grounds, lettings and infrastructure) and Children's (curriculum, pastoral and extra-curricular issues). These committees meet a few weeks prior to the meeting of the Full Governing Body.
The purpose of the Governing Body is to work with the Headteacher, staff, parents and Local Authority, to help the school provide the best possible education for the pupils. We are accountable to the stakeholders mentioned in the first paragraph for the way in which we carry out our various responsibilities and functions.
The Governors are all volunteers and the current team is listed below. If you are interested in joining us and contributing to the good of the school and the local community please get in touch with me or the Headteacher.
Mike Hitchen, Chair of Governors
