Our Christian Vision

At Durrington Junior, our whole curriculum and learning is based upon the teaching:

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. Love your neighbour as yourself." (Matthew 22: 37-39)

We live this out through our Golden Rules and School Values which encourage us to love and respect ourselves and one another. By doing this, we believe that we are being the best people we can be, and following God's commandment.

The Golden Rules are: Be Honest, Be Kind, Be Tidy, Be Helpful, Be Sensible, Be Respectful.

The School Values: TRUTH, KINDNESS & RESPECT

Collective Worship

We hold whole school worship every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Monday launches the theme and continues the thread through the term; Tuesday are kept for Class based Reflections on the theme for Worship that term; Wednesday is for visitors (see below); Thursday we celebrate Christianity through song; Friday is a celebration of ourselves and where we share our prayers with God.

Worship is led by staff and occasionally children, following the termly plans and using a variety of resources such as the SPCK website, Roots and Shoots, The Lion Children's Bible and the Storyteller Bible for Children.

We invite visitors to speak on a variety of themes and we have welcomed The Salvation Army, The Open the Book Team, Rev.Susan and Rev. Philip, and recently we had a Humanist speaker as well.

Parents can choose to remove their child from Collective Worship if they so wish.

Links with the Church

We are proud to be a part of the Community of All Saints Church in Durrington. Our links with the Church help us to flourish and bring our mission to the village and not just our school. The picture below is a link to the All Saints website. Click on the church.
